How do I setup a Dial by Name Directory?

A Dial by Name Directory will allow callers to locate your users by entering letters (using the telephone keypad) of the person’s name in which they’re trying to reach.

To create a Dial by Name Directory, it is necessary to first define which users are to be included in the dial by name directory. The second step is to simply add the dial by name destination to an incoming call route. In this example, we’ll create an IVR option to use the dial by name directory.

1. Login to your Press8 Telecom Control Panel.

2. Select the People menu option from the Features navigation menu.

3. Select the person you wish to enable in the dial by name directory by clicking on the person’s username.

4. In the Dial by name forwards to field, enter the telephone extension of this person.

5. Click Save. You have now enabled this person in the dial by name directory!

6. Repeat the previous steps for any additional users you wish to add to the dial by name directory.

We will now add the dial by name directory to an IVR in which incoming callers are greeted with:

1. Select the IVR menus option from the Features navigation menu.

2. Select the IVR in which you wish to define your dial by name menu option for.

3. Now, select the destination number that you would like to point to your dial by name directory. Then, select Dial by name in the Features drop-down menu.

4. Click Save.

5. You’re finished! Incoming callers will now be able to enter the dial by name directory to locate your users.
